Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible for your information

ellemesa.com (the "site") is operated by Elle Guison, a travel and lifestyle content creator based in the Philippines, trading as ellemesa_ ("I", "me", "my"). I am responsible for the personal information collected through the site. For any question or request about your personal information, please write to hello@ellemesa.com.

2. Information I collect

Information you provide.

• Guide and newsletter sign-ups: your email address and the guide you requested.
• Call bookings: your name, email address and time zone, the date and time you choose, and any optional details you add (such as your brand and what you would like to create).
• Messages: your name, email address, optional brand or company name, and the content of your message.
• Purchases: when paid guides are available, your name, email address and the items purchased. Card and other payment details are entered on the payment provider's secure checkout and are never received or stored by me.

Information collected automatically.

• Technical logs: my hosting provider records limited technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
• Cookies and browser storage: described in section 5.

The site does not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics or social media tracking pixels.

3. How your information is used

• To send the guides you request, and to give you access to the full guides on this site.
• To send my newsletter (new guides, reels and logbook entries, and occasionally a clearly labelled brand partnership). You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To schedule, confirm and hold the calls you book.
• To reply to your messages and discuss potential collaborations.
• To process purchases and deliver the guides you buy.
• To keep the site secure and working properly.

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, I process your information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you sign up for a guide or the newsletter), to take steps you have requested or to fulfil an agreement with you (for example, a booking or a purchase), and for my legitimate interests in running and securing the site.

4. Emails

Guide and newsletter emails are sent through Kit (kit.com), which stores your email address, the forms you signed up through and whether you open or click my emails, so that I can understand which content is useful. Every email includes an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing stops further newsletters immediately.

5. Cookies and browser storage

The site uses a small number of strictly functional items. None is used for advertising or to follow you across other websites.

• em_pass (cookie): set after you sign up for a guide. It contains your email address and sign-up date, is cryptographically signed so it cannot be altered, and lets the site show you the full guides without asking again. It expires after 400 days.
• ellemesa-cart (local storage): remembers the paid guides in your cart. It stays in your browser and is not sent to me.
• ellemesa-upgrade-seen (local storage): remembers that you have already seen the free-guides pop-up, so it is not shown again for 14 days.

You can delete these at any time through your browser settings. The site will continue to work, although you may be asked for your email again to open a guide.

6. Service providers

I use the following providers to run the site. Each processes your information only as needed to provide its service to me:

• Cloudflare: website hosting, delivery and security.
• Kit: guide delivery and email newsletters.
• Cal.com: call scheduling. Once a call is confirmed, Google (Google Calendar and Google Meet) provides the calendar invitation and the video link.
• Google Fonts: the site's typefaces. Google receives your IP address when the fonts load.
• A payment provider: processes payments for paid guides. The provider will be named at checkout when paid guides become available.

Some of these providers are located, or store information, outside the Philippines. Where that happens, I rely on the provider's own contractual and security safeguards to protect your information.

7. Sharing

I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Apart from the service providers listed above, I disclose personal information only where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of the site, its visitors or others.

8. How long information is kept

• Email addresses stay on my mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them.
• Booking details and messages are kept for as long as needed to arrange the call or collaboration and to follow up on it.
• Purchase records are kept for as long as required by Philippine tax and accounting rules.
• Technical logs are kept by the hosting provider for a short period.

9. Security

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to the accounts that hold your information is restricted to me, and the sign-in cookie is signed so it cannot be forged. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but I take reasonable measures to protect your information.

10. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the right to be informed about how your information is processed, to access it, to have it corrected, to object to its processing, to have it erased or blocked, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines. These rights apply wherever you live.

To make a request, email hello@ellemesa.com. I will respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity before acting on the request.

11. Children

The site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me and it will be deleted.

12. Links to other websites

The site links to Instagram, TikTok, Rappler, LinkedIn and other websites. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and I am not responsible for how they handle your information.

13. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time, for example when the site adds a new feature or provider. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
